"Heart of America: The Blessings of Repentance" - fine art print
Painted live at the “Crossroads of America” event with Time to Revive, Goshen, Indiana
2 Chronicles 7:14 – “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Joel 2:12-13 – “Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments.” Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.”
Malachi 3:2-3 – “But who can endure the day of his coming? And who can stand when he appears? For he is like a refiner’s fire and like fullers’ soap. He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, and they will bring offerings in righteousness to the Lord.”

This painting reflects the heart of Jesus for the United States, with the American flag draped over His arm—a symbol of His steadfast love and desire for this nation. Yet His concern goes deeper than outward appearances or national success; it reaches into the condition of every individual heart. His hands are extended, offering an invitation to come to Him, to lay down all that burdens us, and to seek Him with our whole being.
In one hand, He holds ashes—symbolizing repentance and humility. In Scripture, ashes represent brokenness and turning away from sin (Joel 2:12-13, Jonah 3:6-10). They remind us that God, as a consuming fire, refines His people to reflect His holiness. More than outward works, He desires hearts fully surrendered to Him, aligning with His character and ways (1 Samuel 16:7). Repentance begins with recognizing our need for Him and humbling ourselves in His presence.
In His other hand is golden wheat, a symbol of His promise to restore and bless. The wheat represents provision, fruitfulness, and healing—an exchange of the ashes of repentance for the beauty of His blessings (Isaiah 61:3). But this promise comes with a choice: Will we surrender our idols, pride, and human-made systems, allowing Him to refine us? Only then can true healing and revival flow from transformed hearts.
God’s greatest concern is the transformation of our hearts, not the perfection of our works. He calls us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). When our hearts align with Him, the overflow brings healing to the land. True revival begins not with programs or effort, but with hearts fully turned to Him. As Ezekiel 36:26-27 promises, He will give us new hearts and a new spirit, replacing hearts of stone with hearts of flesh.
This painting is an invitation to surrender—to bring Him what little remains and trust Him to raise up a harvest beyond what we can imagine. Out of the ashes, He promises to raise His church, shining His glory. It reflects the hope of 2 Chronicles 7:14: “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Painted in a time of worship and prayer for America, this artwork declares that healing begins within each heart. When we surrender and seek Him first, His kingdom will be revealed, and His glory will shine. It is a call to exchange ashes for beauty, repentance for restoration, and surrender for the abundance of His promises.
