Butterflies have been a theme for me in the past couple of years and still continue! This painting was requested and created as a commission for the Pregnancy Care Centre in our town. I was honored to create this beautiful reminder of hope and the process of of becoming something new.
No doubt we’ve all been mesmerized by the beauty and grace of a butterfly at some point in our life. Delicate colourful wings fluttering, as if dancing with the wind. These beautiful and magnificent creatures are one species that possess the most powerful transformational story we can all learn from.
I believe God’s creation speaks messages into our lives all the time. If we pause to soak in the seemingly small details of His hand all around us, we will find hope and inspiration in these masterpieces. I find this is the case with the butterfly.
The butterfly is one of the most profound symbols of hope, life, change and transformation that we can see and admire. It’s journey from a humble ground crawling caterpillar to a beautiful soaring winged butterfly, carries powerful meaning that speaks to our own capacity to move through life’s challenges and cycles that can mirror our own journey of renewal, expansion and rebirth. Shedding the old nature to become something new.
This piece of art depicting ten unique butterflies soaring on the wind, is a declaration of the hope, much like the Cochrane Pregnancy Care Centre contributes in this community by helping families. Ten is a symbol of perfect completion. Like the perfect process of a butterfly developing its wings to fly, we all have hope in our individual journey of transformation, but can also contribute to helping others in theirs. We are all made uniquely, like each tiny detail of a butterfly wing, and our individual stories inspire others to keep hope alive as we journey together, no matter the circumstance. Let’s help one another in the process of developing wings to fly, like a beautiful army of butterflies! Leaving behind the old and transforming into the new.
